FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
WHAT IS THE CAPACITY AT THE EASTERN?
The Eastern is located in a 5,000 square foot (100’ x 50’) warehouse with polished concrete floors, as well as a 3,000 square foot outdoor patio. We can accommodate up to 600 guests strolling or 300 for a sit-down event. See our floor plan for additional metrics of the space.
WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY?
There is no refund on rental deposits. If you decide to move the date of the event, you may do so, pending availability. We charge a $1,000 booking fee for date change.
HOW DO I BOOK A DATE FOR MY EVENT?
Get in touch with us and we’ll walk you through it! Kindly note the base rental cost is due at the time of booking. The remaining balance for additional beverages and fees is due 30 days before the event. The Eastern accepts check, money order, and all major credit cards with an additional 3% processing fee.

WHAT FURNISHINGS ARE INCLUDED WITH MY RENTAL?
The Eastern provides 5 tables and 10 benches that seat 40-50 people, included in your rental. The dimensions for this seating is 8 ft x 2.5 ft. Additional seating, tables and linens would need to be brought in or rented from an outside vendor.
DO I NEED TO HIRE AN EVENT PLANNER OR COORDINATOR?
A manager will be on-site during your event to oversee the building and our bar staff and to answer any questions. However, he/she will not coordinate your event.
CAN YOU ACCOMMODATE A CEREMONY AND RECEPTION?
Yes! For no additional cost, you can have both a ceremony and reception at The Eastern.
ARE OUTSIDE BEVERAGES OR CATERING ALLOWED?
The Eastern does not allow any outside beverages. However, you may bring in the caterer of your choice.
WHERE ARE YOU LOCATED?
The Eastern is located at 3434 Russell Street, Suite 501 in Detroit, MI. The entrance is not directly on Russell St, rather it's located on the north side of the building next to Wasserman Art Gallery. Parking is available in the adjacent gravel lot. Look for the bright blue doors and enter through the door on the right-hand side.

WHAT IS THE RENTAL FEE FOR EVENTS?
Our rental rates vary based on the time and day of the week and time of year. See our rates sheet for general pricing and get in touch if you’d like a specific quote.
WHAT PARKING IS AVAILABLE TO GUESTS?
The Eastern has use of approximately 15 parking spaces in our gravel lot. Adjacent grass lot is available for parking and holds up to 125 cars. Additional public parking is available along Russell St. See our preferred vendors list for valet companies for hire.
ARE THE BUILDING AND BATHROOMS WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBLE?
Yes! The Eastern is ADA compliant. There are no accessible ramps in the venue, but we are located on the ground floor so no stairs are present.
WHAT ARE YOUR HOURS OF OPERATION?
We are by appointment only. You can schedule a tour of our event space with our Booking Manager or check out our virtual tour on the homepage.
DO YOU HAVE AN OUTDOOR SPACE?
Yes! We have a spacious 3,000 square foot outdoor patio that is included in your rental.
